Speaker Bio

Dr. Peter D. KerrAssistant Professor, Marketing, Shannon School of Business, Cape Breton University

Dr. Kerr’s experience spans 30 years and 6 different industries. Most recently he was owner/manager of a business brokerage firm in Hamilton Ontario where he facilitated the valuation and sale of small and medium size businesses. In addition, he has held senior management roles with numerous companies including vice-president of marketing for Bell Canada’s Small & Medium division. In this role Dr. Kerr was responsible for all marketing and product management activities of a $1.2 billion product portfolio as well as 150 sales and marketing staff.

Other roles include senior Director, Corporate Strategy, Bell Canada; Director of Marketing for Q9 Networks, Canada’s largest Data Centre Service Provider; Director of Marketing for Dell Financial Services, a joint venture between Dell Corporation and CIT Financial Inc.

Dr. Kerr holds a PhD in Marketing Strategy Implementation and Performance from Cranfield University in England and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business from the University of Western Ontario. Peter’s research focuses on marketing strategy implementation and performance issues related to sales and service personnel.

Peter teaches courses in Marketing, Sales Management and Strategic Management at CBU.
